Implantable Hearing Devices

At the Ohio Hearing Institute we strive to constantly provide our patients with the most up to date hearing solutions that are available. When conventional, state-of-the-art hearing aids are not providing the help you need, implantable devices may be right for you.

Some of these devices require very specific types of hearing loss to be approved and paid for by your insurance company, others have no such restrictions.

In general implantable devices can deliver sound energy to your cochlea through bone transmission (BAHA, Sophono), inaudible magnetic waves (Maxum), or electrically stimulate your hearing nerve directly, when no other option is appropriate (Cochlear implant).

Please select the specific device to learn more about how it works, and who is a candidate for each one.
